Mik is new to Bakuretsu High, having been offered a scholarship for "Technological achievements beyond average human capacity". Beyond his frightening knack for gadgets and science, he's the closest thing BH has to a "normal" student, and is having problems adjusting to the sheer randomness around him. Even for all the weirdness, he stalwartly refuses to give in, hoping to make his older brother (a recently graduated BH alumnus) proud. When he's not in classes or in the lab, he spends his time generally being a nice guy, and trying to unravel the myriad of secrets behind the school that seem to put himself and his friends in danger regularly. He hangs out mainly with Tomukun, and his roommate, Taki ( to whom he may be the only real friend of...), and while he's interested in Lyriana, he's taken no real action, as he's fallen under the delusion that she's dating the captain of the school football team, Johnny Tiber (a delusion only Mik and Johnny are under).

Another new student to Bakuretsu, a lot about Taki falls under the realm of the unknown. Most consider him a sarcastic, apathetic, short-tempered bastard who is completely emotionless save his rage and arrogance. Those who have taken the time to get to know him see him as a veritable "Diamond in the Rough", or as Mik puts it, "a mystery coated in enigma sprinkled in riddles and wrapped in a taco". What few things have been discovered about Taki put some of his personality into light. He comes from a family of magi, and he himself wields a considerable level of power. His power, however, far outweighs his skill in manipulating it (it's been theorized that this may be in some part the reason for his lost left eye, though no one will ask him about it). He's shown a good sense of loyalty and compassion, though he attempts to mask it every time it comes up with a few sarcastic comments and a quick exit. Beyond that, even what he's feeling is a mystery.

Somewhere between Hattori Hanzo and Shaft, there is Tomukun. Few are as badass as he is, and there are surgeon general's warnings against trying to be. Coming to Bakuretsu High to complete his ninja training, he is truly being tested as his luck seems to go from bad to worse. First, he was late to orientation. This was followed up immediately by being informed that due to his tardiness and a rooming shortage, he would be roomed in the girl's wing, with a cheerleader for a roommate. He hasn't let this sway him. He will become the ninja he was born to be. He hangs out with Mik and Taki, though he and Taki dislike each other, as Taki's badass-ness threatens his own, and vice-versa. He's recently become interested in Nessa, a member of the Magic Club.

Lyriana Egreas was crushed when she found out the school had no gymnastics team. Left with a choice between he martial arts club or the cheerleading squad, she chose cheerleading, as she was too physically frail for martial arts. Now, however, she's discovered that her choice has left her surrounded by peppy dimwits with no range of personality beyond "GO TEAM GO!" and drawn the attention of that malcontent Johnny Tiber. She got a good room... that she has to share with some creepy ninja guy. She met a nice, cute, smart guy at orientation... who seems to have been scared off by Tiber and his goons. Could life GET any worse?

Thorn is possibly the only student in the freshman class who can match up to Mik's tech skills. Intelligent, funny, and overly energetic, she helps out whenever she can. She doesn't hold the biases against other clubs that the rest of the school seems to preach as a religion (except for her hatred of the football team, but, well, EVERYONE hates them. even them.), and is willing to give someone a chance even if they have a dubious reputation. She doesn't appreciate Taki's sarcasm, and the two often wind up at odds with eachother over the stupidest things imaginable. Noone's sure whether their little game is out of extreme hatred or extreme attraction, and, considering the two people involved, noone can really figure it out.

Nessa is even more mysterious than Taki. She showed up out of nowhere after orientation, and doesn't talk about herself or her past. All that's known is she's a mage, and while she doesn't have Taki's power, her skill is something Taki could learn from. She hangs out with the group on a semi-regular (if not regular) basis, and Tomukun seems to have fallen for her.

One could say that Johnny Tiber is that misunderstood QB with the heart of gold. They would be lying. In truth, Johnny resembles the river of his family name; big, and with more rocks in 'im than brains. A former rugby player, he feels that football isn't violent enough to satisfy his needs, and so goes about creating chaos in his offtime. A new girl on his arm every week, until this year, when the girl he went after at orientation, Lyriana, actually said no to him. This doesn't seem to have registered, and he still hangs around her constantly, proclaiming her as his steady. Yeah, heart of gold my ass.
